Section 45-17-91.24 Public meetings; notices of meetings; public records. (a) The committee shall be deemed a governmental body, as that term is defined in Section 36-25A-2. Meetings of the committee shall be held and conducted in accordance with applicable provisions of the Alabama Open Meetings Act, Chapter 25A of Title 36. (b) Notice of each meeting of the committee shall be posted at the courthouse of each of the counties, not less than 24 hours prior to the hour fixed for such meeting. In addition, notice of each such meeting shall be given to each member of the committee, at such time or times prior thereto, and by such method or methods, whether by United States mail, private delivery service, electronic mail, telephone, facsimile, or other method reasonably likely to provide such notice, as the bylaws of the committee may require. Section 40-2B-2 Alabama Tax Tribunal. (a) Statement of Purpose. To increase public confidence in the fairness of the state tax system, the state shall provide an independent agency with tax expertise to resolve disputes between the Department of Revenue and taxpayers, prior to requiring the payment of the amounts in issue or the posting of a bond, but after the taxpayer has had a full opportunity to attempt settlement with the Department of Revenue based, among other things, on the hazards of litigation.
