Section 16-13-37 Use of county sales and use tax funds for general educational purposes.
(a) When approved at a referendum election held for such purposes in the manner hereinafter
prescribed, any local board of education may divert any earmarked revenue derived by it from
county sales and use taxes heretofore levied and imposed by local laws enacted by the Legislature
of Alabama which exclusively earmarked such county sales and use taxes for capital outlay,
construction and maintenance of public schools and use or spend the same for general educational
purposes, including payment of teachers' salaries, other current school expenses, and costs
of school transportation, the provisions of any general, special or local law to the contrary
notwithstanding. (b) Upon the written request of the local board of education to the county
commission, the referendum elections referred to in subsection (a) of this section

Section 45-38-241 Levy of tax on sale of certain automotive vehicles, trailers, etc.
(a) There is hereby levied and imposed in the county, in addition to all other taxes of every
kind now imposed by law, a privilege or license tax on the sale of any automotive vehicle,
truck trailer, semitrailer, and house trailer required to be registered or licensed with the
Lamar County Judge of Probate and purchased other than at wholesale in the county from any
person, firm, or corporation which is not a licensed dealer engaged in selling automotive
vehicles, truck trailers, semitrailers, or house trailers an amount equal to one and one-half
percent of the purchase price. (b) Where any used automotive vehicle, truck trailer, semitrailer,
or house trailer is taken in trade or in a series of trades as a credit or part payment on

Section 45-39-245.07 Distribution of funds. (a) In the event the provisions of subsection
(a) of Section 45-39-245.06 are utilized for the collection of the taxes herein levied,

Fund held by the state, to the local boards of education, the State Superintendent of Education
shall first set apart and distribute to the schools of each township the amount due from the

Section 45-27-120.08 Personnel board. (a) There may be created in Escambia County a
personnel board. The personnel board shall be composed of not less than three persons nor
more than seven persons, as established by the county commission. The board members shall
