Section 45-49-103.01 Duties; compensation; removal; bond. The county superintendent of education
shall be ex officio a member and treasurer of the board of school commissioners, and it shall
be his or her duty to be present at every regular meeting of the board, and make full and
detailed reports of the condition of the schools and of all matters coming under his or her

and preserve the former Garden City school property in the Town of Garden City, including
any ball fields and other historical structures, owned by the Cullman County Board of Education.
To the extent allowed under Section 36-1-12, members of the governing body are immune from
civil liability for actions taken in the conduct of their duties relating to the Garden City

provide funds for public school purposes, the governing body of each of the several counties
in this state is hereby authorized by ordinance to levy and provide for the assessment and
collection of franchise, excise and privilege license taxes with respect to privileges or
