Section 45-33-233 Hale County Sheriff Service of Process Serving Fund. (a) This section shall apply only to Hale County. (b) The Hale County Sheriff Service of Process Serving Fund is created and hereinafter referred to as the fund. (c) The Sheriff of Hale County, except for warrants for arrest, may contract with or enter into agreement with a private, public, or governmental entity for the purpose of service of process. (d)(1) In addition to all existing charges, fees, judgments, and costs of court, the clerk, sheriff, or other appropriate court official in the civil and criminal division of the district and circuit courts of Hale County, shall assess a service of process fee of ten dollars ($10) per document and the fees shall be paid into the fund. The amount of the assessment for participation in the program shall be in addition to any court costs and assessments for victims or drug, alcohol, or anger management treatment required by law, and are in addition to costs of supervision, treatment, and restitution for which the person may be responsible.
