Section 45-41-230.20 Minimum qualifications for sheriff; continuing education. (a) On or after May 18, 2020, a person qualifying for election as Sheriff of Lee County or any person appointed to serve as sheriff shall meet all of the following minimum qualifications, in addition to any other qualifications required by law: (1) The person is a citizen of the United States. (2) The person has been a resident of the county for at least one year immediately prior to the qualification date. (3) The person has the qualifications of an elector pursuant to state and federal law and the person has been registered to vote in the county at least one year immediately prior to qualifying. Section 45-45-83.46 Fees. (a) An applicant may be assessed a fee when the applicant is approved for the program. The amount of the assessment for participation in the program shall be in addition to any court costs, assessments for victims, or drug, alcohol, or anger management treatment required by law, the district attorney, or the court and shall be in addition to costs of supervision, treatment, and restitution for which the pretrial admittee may be responsible. Pretrial intervention program fees, as established by this section, may be waived or reduced due to indigency or reduced ability to pay or for just cause at the discretion of the district attorney. The determination of indigency of the offender, for the purpose of pretrial intervention admission or fee waiver or reduction shall be made by the district attorney. (a) Every person desiring to engage as an apprentice shall satisfy all of the following: (1) Make application as a funeral director's apprentice or an embalmer's apprentice to the board upon a form provided by the board. The applicant shall submit to the board a form, sworn to by the applicant, that contains the name, date of birth, and Social Security number of the applicant, and two complete sets of fingerprints, for completion of a criminal history background check. The board shall submit the fingerprints to the Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency for a state criminal history record check. (a) Offenders who fail to comply with the conditions of post-release supervision as specified by the Board of Pardons and Paroles may have their release status revoked.
