Section 45-48-244 Levy of tax. In addition to all other taxes imposed by law, there is hereby levied a privilege or license tax in the amount hereinafter prescribed against every person engaging in Marshall County in the business of renting or furnishing any room or rooms, lodging, or accommodations, to any transient in any hotel, motel, inn, tourist court, or any other place in which rooms, lodgings, or accommodations are regularly furnished to transients for a consideration. Section 45-26-246.05 Disposition of funds. Except as otherwise provided in this part, the balance of the proceeds from the tax levied by this part shall be deposited into the Elmore County Lodging Fund. The net proceeds from the tax collected outside of the municipalities shall be used by the county for economic development purposes. Sixty-seven percent of the remaining funds in the lodging fund shall be used by the county for economic development purposes.
