Section 45-2-244.076 Application of state sales tax statutes. All provisions of the state sales
tax statutes with respect to payment, assessment, and collection of the state sales tax, making
of reports and keeping and preserving records with respect thereto, penalties for failure
to pay the tax, the promulgation of the rules and regulations with respect to the state sales
tax, and the administration and enforcement of the state sales tax statutes, which are not
inconsistent with the provisions of this subpart when applied to the tax authorized to be
levied in Section 45-2-244.072 shall apply to the county tax levied under this subpart. The
county commission shall have and exercise the same powers, duties, and obligations with respect
to the county tax levied under this subpart that are imposed on the state Revenue Commissioner

Section 45-26-244.07 Charge for collection. (a) The department shall charge Elmore County for
collecting the tax levied under this subpart in an amount or percentage of total collections
as may be agreed upon by the commissioner and the Elmore County Commission. The charge shall
not exceed five percent of the total amount of the tax collected in the county. The charge
may be deducted each month from the gross revenues from the tax before certification of the
amount of the proceeds due Elmore County for that month. The Commissioner of Revenue shall

Section 45-28-243.01 Privilege or license surcharge. (a) This section shall be applicable only
to Etowah County. (b) There is levied and imposed, in addition to all other surcharges of
every kind now imposed by law, a privilege or license surcharge upon every person, firm, or
corporation engaging in the business of renting or furnishing any room or rooms, lodging,
or accommodations to transients in any hotel, motel, inn, tourist camp, tourist cabin, or
any other place in which rooms, lodgings, or accommodations are regularly furnished to transients
for a consideration, in an amount of one dollar and fifty cents ($1.50) per night per room,
rooms, lodgings, or accommodations. There is exempted from the surcharge levied under this

and administer a program of revenue collection for all local taxes, licenses, fees, and other
fees, charges, and revenues levied by the county commission pursuant to local law. (b) The
