There is hereby levied and imposed an excise tax on the storage, use or other consumption
in this state of any machine, machinery, or equipment which is used in planting, cultivating
and harvesting farm products, or used in connection with the production of agricultural produce
or products, livestock or poultry, or farms, and the parts of such machines, machinery or
equipment, attachments and replacements therefor which are made or manufactured for use on
or in the operation of such machine, machinery or equipment, and which are necessary to and

Section 40-8-1 Classification of property; assessment rate. (a) On and after October
1, 1978, with respect to ad valorem taxes levied by the state, and, unless otherwise provided,
with respect to ad valorem taxes levied by a county, municipality, or other taxing authority

Section 40-21-82 Levy of tax; sourcing of gross sales or gross receipts from telegraph
or telephone services. (a) There is hereby levied, in addition to all other taxes of every
kind now imposed by law, and shall be collected as herein provided, a privilege or license
tax against every utility furnishing electricity, domestic water, or natural gas in the State

Section 45-12-241.01 Privilege license tax for mandatory solid waste disposal program.
(a) This section shall only apply to Choctaw County. (b) As used in this section,
state sales and use tax means the tax imposed by the state sales and use tax statutes, including,
but not limited to, Sections 40-23-1, 40-23-2, 40-23-3, 40-23-4, 40-23-60, 40-23-61, 40-23-62,
and 40-23-63 of the Code of Alabama 1975. (c) The County Commission of Choctaw County may
levy, in addition to all other taxes, a privilege license tax against gross sales in an amount
up to two cents which shall be exclusively for the operational fund of the county mandatory
solid waste disposal program. The gross proceeds of all sales which are presently exempt under

Section 45-35-244 Definitions. (a) The following words, terms, and phrases as used in
this subpart shall have the following respective meanings except where the context clearly

Section 45-37-244.01 Automobile rental tax. (a) In Jefferson County, in addition to
all other taxes imposed by law, there is hereby levied an additional privilege or license
tax, in the amount hereinafter prescribed against any person, organization, or other entity
engaging or continuing in the county in the business of leasing or renting any passenger automotive
vehicle, the duration of the lease being not more than one year. The amount of the taxes levied
by this section shall be equal to three percent of the gross proceeds derived by the
