Section 44-1-40 Agreements with federal government. The department of youth services is authorized to serve as an agent of the state in entering into agreements with any appropriate agency of the federal government to provide care and treatment for a youth found by a federal court to be delinquent and committed to the custody of the attorney general of the United States. Such agreement shall be upon such terms and conditions and shall provide for such compensation as may be mutually agreed upon between the department and the appropriate agency of the federal government. Funds received as compensation under such agreement shall be placed in the state treasury and are hereby appropriated for the use of the department for carrying out the provisions of this chapter.
