(a) Wetumpka, enacting an ordinance pursuant to this article, may elect to create an architectural review board, hereinafter sometimes called the board, to perform the duties and responsibilities of the historic preservation commission in accepting, considering, and approving or rejecting applications for certificates of appropriateness, as set out in Sections 45-26A-70.08 to 45-26A-70.11, inclusive. (a) There is continued as previously established the Alabama Surface Mining Reclamation Commission under the name of the Alabama Surface Mining Commission for the purpose of transition in implementing and enforcing this article and carrying out the intent and policy stated in Section 9-16-71.
