Section 16-23-16.1 Creation of Professional Teachers Standards Commission; designation or development of entry-level pre-certification examination for teacher candidates. (a) The Legislature finds that Alabama is alone among the southern states in not testing teacher candidates before allowing them in the classroom, and acknowledges that the need exists to establish, maintain, and enforce minimum professional standards for teacher candidates in the State of Alabama. In response to such need, there is hereby created a Professional Teachers Standards Commission (the commission) for the State of Alabama. Section 40-3-2 Selection of members; terms of office. (a) This subsection shall apply to every county in the state except a county subject to the provisions of subsection (b) of this section. Section 34-21-2 Board of Nursing generally. (a) There is created the Board of Nursing, which shall be composed of 13 members to be appointed and have the duties and powers enumerated in this section.
