Section 41-9-42 Terms of office of members; officers generally; filling of vacancies; compensation of members. The term of office of each member shall be six years; provided, however, that of the members first appointed, five shall be appointed for terms of two years, five for terms of four years and five for terms of six years. The council shall elect a chairman and a vice-chairman from the members of the council to serve at the pleasure of the council. The chairman and vice-chairman shall be the executive officers of the council. The council itself shall nominate three persons from the same geographical area to replace each of the members whose term of service is expiring, not less than six months prior to expiration of a regular term of service and promptly upon other occurrences of a vacancy.
