Section 25-13-5 Elevator Safety Review Board - Created; composition. (a) There is created the Elevator Safety Review Board, herein referred to as the "board," consisting of 10 members, one of whom shall be the State Secretary of the Department of Labor who shall serve as the administrator. The Governor shall appoint the remaining nine members of the board as follows: One representative from a major elevator manufacturing company or its authorized representative; one representative from an elevator servicing company; one representative of the architectural design profession; one representative of the general public; one representative of a municipality in this state; one representative of a building owner or manager; one representative who is physically handicapped; one licensed professional engineer; and one representative of labor involved in the installation, maintenance, and repair of elevators. Section 29-1-26 Legislative double dipping prohibited. (a) This section shall be known and may be cited as the Legislative Double Dipping Prohibition Act. (b) Any other provision of law to the contrary notwithstanding, and except as provided in subsection (c), a member of the Legislature, during his or her term of office, may not be an employee of any other branch of state government, any department, agency, board, or commission of the state, or any public educational institution including, but not limited to, a local board of education, a two-year institution of higher education, or a four-year institution of higher education. (b) A person to be eligible for appointment to serve on the board shall be a citizen and resident of Alabama. Section 37-15-10.1 Underground Damage Prevention Authority. (a) The Underground Damage Prevention Authority is created for the purpose of enforcing this chapter and for reviewing penalty provisions and the adequacy of the enforcement process. It is the intent of the Legislature that the authority and its enforcement activities not be funded by appropriations from the state budget. (b) The authority shall utilize the services of the Alabama Public Service Commission to provide administrative support for the authority, subject to the concurrence by the authority board.
