Section 36-18-34 Powers of director. (a) For the purposes of performing any of the functions, duties, or responsibilities of the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences or for the purposes of implementing any provision of this article or to defray the costs thereof, the director may receive, accept, expend, or utilize any and all money or property of whatever nature, kind or description which may now or hereafter be available for such purposes. (b) For the purposes of implementing any of the provisions of this article, or to defray the costs thereof, the director may award loans or grants of money, equipment or personnel to public or private non-profit corporations, associations, agencies of the State of Alabama or any political subdivision thereof, or to state, county, or municipal law enforcement or prosecutorial or judicial agencies upon such terms and conditions as the director may deem necessary.
