Section 41-4-2 General purpose of department; seal. There shall be a Department of Finance, which shall be an executive and administrative department and which shall have general supervision of all matters pertaining to the finances and real property of the state and the departments, boards, bureaus, commissions, agencies, offices, and institutions thereof and, to the extent herein indicated, over the finances of the counties, municipal corporations, political subdivisions, and local public bodies in the state, and to furnish the physical facilities, equipment, and supplies and, to the extent herein indicated, the personnel, for the operation of the state and such departments, boards, bureaus, commissions, agencies, offices, and institutions thereof.
