Section 23-2-142 Definitions. As used in this article, the following words and terms
shall have the following meanings, respectively, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise:
(1) AUTHORITY. The Alabama Toll Road, Bridge, and Tunnel Authority created by this article,
or any board, body, or commission succeeding to the principal functions thereof or to which
the powers given by this article to the authority shall be given by law. (2) BONDS or TOLL
ROAD, BRIDGE, OR TUNNEL REVENUE BONDS. Bonds of the authority authorized under this article.
(3) CONCESSIONAIRE. A person, firm, corporation, partnership, limited liability company, or
other legal entity described in Section 23-2-144(a)(12) which has been awarded a contract
to construct or operate, or both, a toll road or bridge by the department or the authority.
(4) COST. As applied to a toll road, bridge, or tunnel project, the cost shall include, but

Section 41-10-591 Definitions. (a) Except as otherwise expressly provided herein, words
and phrases used in this division that are defined in Section 41-10-541, shall have
the meanings assigned in such section. (b) The following words and phrases used in

Section 23-8-8 Deposit and use of funds; audit; annual plan. (a) The monies paid to
counties or municipalities pursuant to Section 40-17-371 shall be deposited into a
separate fund maintained by the county or municipality and expended only for one or more of

Section 36-25A-2 Definitions. As used in and for determining the applicability of this
chapter, the following words shall have the following meanings solely for the purposes of

Section 40-19-17 Motor Carrier Fund. All such mileage tax, penalties, fees and amounts
collected under this chapter shall be paid into the Treasury within 30 days after their receipt
and shall be kept separate and apart from all other funds by the Treasurer in a fund to be
known as the Motor Carrier Fund. The Motor Carrier Fund shall be used as follows: (1) Such

Section 40-12-253 Ad valorem taxation of motor vehicles. (a) Effective January 1, 2000,
ad valorem taxes on motor vehicles shall be assessed and the tax collected forward on a current
basis to coincide with the collection of motor vehicle license taxes and registration fees.
(1) Ad valorem taxes on motor vehicles shall become due and payable on the first day of the
registration renewal month of the owner, the date the motor vehicle enters the State of Alabama,
the date the motor vehicle is removed from the inventory of a dealer, or the date on which
the motor vehicle is otherwise determined to be taxable, whichever comes first. Ad valorem
