Section 24-1-61 Definitions. The following terms, wherever used or referred to in this article shall have the following respective meaning, unless a different meaning clearly appears from the context: (1) AUTHORITY or HOUSING AUTHORITY. A public body organized as a body corporate and politic in accordance with the provisions of this article for the purposes, with the powers and subject to the restrictions set forth in this article. (2) COUNTY. All of the county except that portion which lies within the territorial boundaries of any city or incorporated town. (3) COUNTY COMMISSION. The governing body of any county. (4) HOUSING COMMISSIONER. One of the members of an authority appointed in accordance with the provisions of this article. (5) GOVERNMENT. Section 40-27-1 Compact adopted; terms. The following Multistate Tax Compact is hereby approved, adopted and enacted into law by the State of Alabama: Multistate Tax Compact Article I. Purposes. The purposes of this compact are to: 1. Facilitate proper determination of state and local tax liability of multistate taxpayers, including the equitable apportionment of tax bases and settlement of apportionment disputes. 2. Section 40-23-4 Exemptions. (a) There are exempted from the provisions of this division and from the computation of the amount of the tax levied, assessed, or payable under this division the following: (1) The gross proceeds of the sales of lubricating oil and gasoline as defined in Sections 40-17-30 and 40-17-170 and the gross proceeds from those sales of lubricating oil destined for out-of-state use which are transacted in a manner whereby an out-of-state purchaser takes delivery of such oil at a distributor's plant within this state and transports it out-of-state, which are otherwise taxed. Section 45-37-170.02 Removal or demolition of unsafe structures. (a) The County Commission of Jefferson County shall have authority, after notice as provided herein, to move or demolish buildings and structures, or parts of buildings and structures, party walls, and foundations when the same are found by the county commission to be unsafe to the extent of being a public nuisance from any cause. Section 39-2-12 Partial and final payments of contractors by awarding authorities. (a) As used in this section the following words shall have the meanings ascribed to them as follows: (1) CONTRACTOR. Any natural person, partnership, company, firm, corporation, association, limited liability company, cooperative, or other legal entity licensed by the Alabama State Licensing Board for General Contractors.
