Section 22-27-3 Authority of local governing bodies as waste collections and disposal; household exemptions; state regulatory program. (a) Generally. (1) The county commission or municipal governing body may, and is hereby authorized to, make available to the general public collection and disposal facilities for solid wastes in a manner acceptable to the department. The county commission or municipal governing body may provide such collection or disposal services by contract with private or other controlling agencies and may include house-to-house service or the placement of regularly serviced and controlled bulk refuse receptacles within reasonable (generally less than eight miles) distance from the farthest affected household and the wastes managed in a manner acceptable to the department. Section 41-6-76 Collection of fees for services rendered by department; Archives Services Fund. (a) The department may collect fees for certain services rendered by the department, including, but not limited to the following: (1) SEARCH AND HANDLING FEES. These fees shall include, but not limited to, fees for conducting research for requests from outside the state and for handling all requests for reproducing special format materials. (2) RECORDS CENTER AND MICROGRAPHICS STORAGE AND SERVICE FEES. These fees shall be collected from government agencies for storage, retrieval, and reproduction of nonpermanent records in the records center and for the security storage of microfilm. Any unexpended or unencumbered balances in the funds shall not revert at the end of each fiscal year, but shall remain in the funds and may be carried over into each succeeding fiscal year. Any income earned on the trust income account shall accrue to the fund. The funds shall be administered by the State Treasurer, which shall be entitled to a reasonable fee for the administration. Section 45-46-230 Deputies; clerical staff and jail personnel. (a) The composition of the Sheriff's Department of Marengo County shall include no less than five deputies and one chief deputy; and any increase in deputy personnel shall be approved by the Marengo County Commission. (b)(1) The deputies shall receive the same compensation as a trooper with the Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency and the compensation shall be adjusted on the anniversary date of the deputies' employment to include any raises, including cost-of-living raises that state troopers receive after or have received at the beginning of this fiscal year.
