Section 45-42-243.30 Financing construction of public buildings. (a) In order to provide funds
for financing the cost of public buildings, the Limestone County Commission is hereby authorized
by resolution to levy and provide for the assessment and collection of sales and use taxes,
which shall be in addition to any and all other county taxes heretofore or hereafter authorized
by law in such county. The sales or use tax levied pursuant to this section shall parallel,
except for the rate of tax, the sales and use taxes imposed by the state under Title 40. Any
sales or use tax levied pursuant to this section on any automotive vehicle, truck trailer,
trailer, semi-trailer, or travel trailer required to be registered or licensed with the license
commissioner, where not collected by a licensed Alabama dealer at time of sale, shall be collected
and the collection fees shall be paid in accordance with Sections 40-23-104 and 40-23-107.

or repair of nonprofit public organization property; reimbursement of costs. (a) The Mobile
County Commission may donate money, property, equipment, services, or other things of value
to any organized voluntary fire department or organized voluntary rescue squad and also to
perform maintenance or repair of property owned by nonprofit public organizations, which property
is perpetually dedicated to the public use as a public park, and which organizations have
entered into a contract with the Mobile County Commission for the use of the park and for

Section 45-8-242 Levy of tax; advisory referendum; collection of tax; disposition of funds.
(a) This section shall only apply to Calhoun County. (b) As used in this section, state sales
and use tax means the tax imposed by the state sales and use tax statutes, including, but
not limited to, Sections 40-23-1, 40-23-2, 40-23-4, 40-23-60, 40-23-61, 40-23-62, and 40-23-63.
(c)(1) The County Commission of Calhoun County may levy in the police jurisdictions of the

Section 6-5-336 Volunteers. (a) This section shall be known as "The Volunteer Service
Act." (b) The Legislature finds and declares that: (1) The willingness of volunteers
to offer their services has been increasingly deterred by a perception that they put personal
assets at risk in the event of tort actions seeking damages arising from their activities
as volunteers; (2) The contributions of programs, activities, and services to communities
is diminished and worthwhile programs, activities, and services are deterred by the unwillingness
of volunteers to serve either as volunteers or as officers, directors, or trustees of nonprofit
public and private organizations; (3) The provisions of this section are intended to encourage
volunteers to contribute their services for the good of their communities and at the same
time provide a reasonable basis for redress of claims which may arise relating to those services.

Section 16-12-7 School buildings and grounds; approval of contracts generally. (a) The city
superintendent of schools shall recommend to the city board of education for condemnation
school buildings which are insanitary and unfit for use. He shall recommend all repairs, purchase
