Section 28-3-190 Levy of tax; collection; disposition of proceeds by localities; enforcement and administration; penalties; exclusive nature of tax. (a) Levy. In addition to the excise tax levied by Article 5A of Chapter 3 of this title and the licenses provided for by Chapter 3A of this title and by Section 28-3-194, and any acts amendatory thereof, supplementary thereto or substituted therefor, and municipal and county licenses, there is hereby levied a privilege or excise tax on every person licensed under the provisions of Chapter 3A who sells, stores, or receives for the purpose of distribution, to any person, firm, corporation, club, or association within the State of Alabama any beer. (a)(1) For tax years commencing January 1, 2015, and thereafter, a taxpayer who files a state income tax return and is not a dependent of another taxpayer may claim a tax credit for a contribution made to the Department of Postsecondary Education for qualifying educational expenses directly associated with the Career-Technical Dual Enrollment Program as defined by State Board of Education policy. (a) An eligible taxpayer who is granted amnesty for an eligible tax type shall comply with all of the following requirements: (1) Submit to the department by November 15, 2018, all applicable returns, supporting documentation, and the full payment of the tax.
