Section 31-5-9 County service commissioners and district service commissioners - Qualifications and appointment. It shall be the duty of the State Service Commissioner, subject to the approval of the State Board of Veterans' Affairs, to appoint a county service commissioner for each of the several counties in the State of Alabama, except as provided in this section, and all such appointees shall be employees of the state department, subject to the authority, rules, and regulations of the state board. Section 41-10-730 Failure to pay fee. In the event an employer fails to pay to the department any amount required to be paid under this division, that amount may be assessed against the employer in the same manner, including interest and penalties, as is prescribed for the assessment of income tax under the provisions of Chapter 2A of Title 40. The employer may appeal from any preliminary or final assessment in the same manner and subject to the same procedures prescribed for income tax appeals by Chapter 2A of Title 40.
