Section 34-23-1 Definitions. For the purpose of this chapter, the following words and phrases
shall have the following meanings: (1) ASSOCIATION. The Alabama Pharmacy Association. (2)
BIOLOGICAL PRODUCT. Has the same meaning as the term as defined in 42 U.S.C. §262. (3) BOARD
or STATE BOARD. The Alabama State Board of Pharmacy. (4) CHEMICAL. Any substance of a medicinal
nature, whether simple or compound, obtained through the process of the science and art of
chemistry, whether of organic or inorganic origin. (5) DISPENSE. To sell, distribute, administer,
leave with, give away, dispose of, deliver, or supply a drug or medicine to the ultimate user
or his or her agent. (6) DRUGS. All medicinal substances, preparations, and devices recognized
by the United States Pharmacopoeia and National Formulary, or any revision thereof, and all
substances and preparations intended for external and internal use in the cure, diagnosis,

Section 16-47-240 Alabama Rural Hospital Resource Center. (a) The University of Alabama at
Birmingham shall establish the Alabama Rural Hospital Resource Center. (b) The purpose of
the resource center is to facilitate access to high quality care for rural Alabamians and

Section 40-18-132 Physicians qualifying for credit; time limit; promulgation of rules. Beginning
with the 1994 tax year, a person qualifying as a rural physician shall be allowed a credit
against the tax imposed by Section 40-18-2, in the sum of $5,000. No credit shall be allowed
to a rural physician who is, on May 4, 1993, practicing in a small or rural community. No
credit shall be allowed to a physician who has previously practiced in a small or rural community
unless, after May 4, 1993, that physician returns to practice in a small or rural community
after having practiced in a large or urban community for at least three years. The tax credit
