Section 27-31B-16 Tax on premiums collected. (a) Each captive insurance company shall
pay to the commissioner, by March 1 of each year, a tax at the rate of four-tenths of one
percent on the first 20 million dollars, three-tenths of one percent on the next 20 million
dollars, two-tenths of one percent on the next 20 million dollars, seventy-five thousandths
of one percent on each dollar thereafter on the direct premiums collected or contracted for
on policies or contracts of insurance written by the captive insurance company during the
year ending December 31 next preceding, after deducting from the direct premiums subject to
the tax the amounts paid to policyholders as return premiums which shall include dividends
on unabsorbed premiums or premium deposits returned or credited to policyholders. Notwithstanding
the foregoing, no tax shall be due or payable as to considerations received for annuity contracts.

1, 1978, with respect to ad valorem taxes levied by the state, and, unless otherwise provided,
with respect to ad valorem taxes levied by a county, municipality, or other taxing authority

Section 45-5-246.02 Privilege license tax on general, amusement, and vending categories.
Subject to the approval of a majority of the electors voting at a referendum as provided for
herein, the County Commission of Blount County may, upon a majority vote of the members, levy,
in addition to all other taxes, including, but not limited to, county and municipal gross
receipts license taxes, a privilege license tax in an amount up to one percent of gross sales

Section 45-12-241.01 Privilege license tax for mandatory solid waste disposal program.
(a) This section shall only apply to Choctaw County. (b) As used in this section,
state sales and use tax means the tax imposed by the state sales and use tax statutes, including,
but not limited to, Sections 40-23-1, 40-23-2, 40-23-3, 40-23-4, 40-23-60, 40-23-61, 40-23-62,
and 40-23-63 of the Code of Alabama 1975. (c) The County Commission of Choctaw County may

Section 45-28-243 Privilege or license tax. (a) In Etowah County, there is hereby levied
and imposed, in addition to all other taxes of every kind now imposed by law, a privilege
