Section 37-8-161 Intoxication of persons employed upon railways or vessels while engaged in
discharge of duties. Every person who, being employed upon any railway as engineer, conductor,
baggage master, brakeman, switch tender, flagman or signal man or person having charge of
stations or the starting, regulating or running of trains upon any railway, or being employed
as captain, engineer or other officer of any vessel, shall be intoxicated while engaged in

Section 25-4-10 Employment. (a) Subject to other provisions of this chapter, "employment"
means: (1) Any service performed prior to January 1, 1978, which was employment as defined
in this section prior to such date and, subject to the other provisions of this section, services
performed for remuneration after December 31, 1977, including service in interstate commerce,

pilot to deliver to the master of any and every vessel approaching the Bay or Harbor of Mobile,

Section 40-12-99 Engineers. Each person practicing for the public the profession of civil,
electrical, mining, mechanical, or radio engineering shall pay an annual license tax of $20
to the state, but no license shall be paid to the county. If such business is conducted as
a firm or corporation in which more than one engineer is engaged, each engineer so engaged
shall pay a license tax of $20. No such engineer shall be required to pay this license tax
until after he has practiced his profession for two years in this state or elsewhere. An engineer
