Section 37-13-1 Definitions. When used in this chapter, unless the context plainly indicates
otherwise, the present tense shall include the future tense, the singular shall include the
plural, the plural shall include the singular and the following words and phrases shall have
the meanings respectively ascribed to them by this section. (1) ADDITIONAL RAIL SERVICE AREA.
Any territory that is outside the boundaries or corporate limits, as the case may be, of any
of its authorizing subdivisions and that the governing body of the county, and of any city
or town, in which such territory is located has by resolution designated as an area in which
the authority may render rail transportation service. (2) AUTHORITY. Any public corporation
organized pursuant to this chapter or any law amendatory thereof or supplemental thereto.

Section 37-4-1 Definitions. Unless otherwise specified, when used in this article, these terms
shall have the following meanings: (1) COMMISSION. The Alabama Public Service Commission.
(2) COMMISSIONER. A member of the commission. (3) MUNICIPALITY. Any municipal corporation
organized under the laws of this state. (4) PERSON. Such term shall mean and include individuals,

Section 10A-1-1.03 Definitions. As used in this title, unless the context otherwise requires,
the following terms mean: (1) AFFILIATE. A person who controls, is controlled by, or is under

Section 22-22A-6 Environmental Management Commission; powers and duties; composition; meetings;
compensation; expenses; ethical requirements. (a) There is hereby created a seven member Environmental
Management Commission of the Alabama Department of Environmental Management which shall have
the following duties: (1) To select a director for the Department of Environmental Management
and to advise the director on environmental matters which are within the department's scope

Section 36-25A-7 Executive sessions. (a) Executive sessions are not required by this chapter,
but may be held by a governmental body only for the following purposes: (1) To discuss the
general reputation and character, physical condition, professional competence, or mental health

of entry-level pre-certification examination for teacher candidates. (a) The Legislature finds
that Alabama is alone among the southern states in not testing teacher candidates before allowing
them in the classroom, and acknowledges that the need exists to establish, maintain, and enforce
minimum professional standards for teacher candidates in the State of Alabama. In response
