Section 37-6-3 Enumerated powers. A cooperative shall have the power: (1) To sue and be sued in its corporate name. (2) To adopt a corporate seal and alter the same at its pleasure. (3) To generate, manufacture, purchase, acquire and transmit electric energy and to distribute, sell, supply and dispose of electric energy to its members, to governmental agencies and political subdivisions and to other persons; provided, however, that should a cooperative acquire any electric facilities dedicated or devoted to the public use, it may continue to serve the persons served directly from such facilities at the time of such acquisition without requiring that such persons become members, and, provided further, that such nonmembers shall have the right to become members upon nondiscriminatory terms. Section 24-8-7 Exemptions. (a) Except for subdivision (3) of Section 24-8-4, Sections 24-8-4 and 24-8-6 do not apply to rooms or units in dwellings containing living quarters occupied or intended to be occupied by no more than four families living independently of each other, if the owner actually maintains and occupies one of the living quarters as his or her residence. Section 40-17-350 Transportation of motor fuel; inspections. (a) Each person operating a refinery or terminal in Alabama shall prepare and provide to the driver of every highway vehicle receiving motor fuel at the facility a shipping document setting out on its face the destination state as represented to the terminal operator by the shipper or the shipper's agent. Failure to comply with this subsection may result in a department imposed penalty of not less than five hundred dollars ($500) nor more than one thousand dollars ($1,000), to be multiplied by the sum of the current violation plus prior violations of this subsection.
