Section 34-21-120 Findings; purpose. (a) The party states find and declare all of the following:
(1) The health and safety of the public are affected by the degree of compliance with and
the effectiveness of enforcement activities related to state nurse licensure laws. (2) Violations
of nurse licensure and other laws regulating the practice of nursing may result in injury
or harm to the public. (3) The expanded mobility of nurses and the use of advanced communication
technologies as part of a national health care delivery system requires greater coordination
and cooperation among states in the areas of nurse licensure and regulation. (4) New practice
modalities and technology make compliance with individual state nurse licensure laws difficult
and complex. (5) Uniformity of nurse licensure requirements throughout the states promotes
public safety and public health benefits. (b) The general purpose of this compact is to achieve

Section 37-11-1 Execution and text of compact. The Governor, on behalf of this state, is hereby
authorized to execute a compact in substantially the following form with the states of Louisiana
and Mississippi, and the legislature hereby signifies in advance its approval and ratification
of such compact, which compact is as follows: Southern High-Speed Rail Commission. Article
I. The purpose of this compact is to study the feasibility of rapid rail transit service between
the states of Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama and to establish a joint interstate commission

Section 31-9-2 Findings and declarations of necessity; purpose of article and public policy.
(a) Because of the existing and increasing possibility of the occurrence of disasters or emergencies
of unprecedented size and destructiveness resulting from enemy attack, sabotage, or other

Section 37-11C-2 Definitions. As used in this chapter, the following words shall have the following
meanings: (1) CLASS II RAILROAD. A carrier classified as a Class II railroad pursuant to 49
CFR § 1201, or other rule adopted by the United States Surface Transportation Board. (2)

(a) The Legislature hereby makes the following findings of fact and declares its intent to

highway system provide access to state locales that are notable for their scenic, natural,
historic, recreational, cultural, and archaeological value and are therefore worthy of designations
as scenic byways in order to provide special consideration of their unique features and special
role in the highway system. The Legislature further finds that the public interest would be
