Section 16-22-17 Payroll deductions for participation in statewide programs. (a) When used
in this section, the following terms shall have the following meanings, respectively: (1)
EMPLOYEE. Any person employed full-time as provided by law by those employers enumerated in
this section and adult bus drivers. (2) EMPLOYER. All public city and county boards of education;
the Board of Trustees of the Alabama Institute for Deaf and Blind; the Alabama Youth Services
Department District Board in its capacity as the Board of Education for the Youth Services
Department District; the Board of Directors of the Alabama School of Fine Arts; the Board
of Trustees of the Alabama High School of Mathematics and Science; the State Board of Education

Section 16-25A-1 Definitions. When used in this article, the following terms shall have the
following meanings, respectively, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise: (1) EMPLOYEE.

Section 16-25-190 Increase in benefits to members and beneficiaries. (a) Commencing October
1, 2005, there is provided an increase in benefits to each person currently receiving benefits
whose effective date of retirement was prior to October 1, 2004, for purposes of receiving

Section 36-29-50 High deductible health plan with a federally qualified health savings account.
(a) As used in this section, the following words shall have the following meanings: (1) HEALTH
SAVINGS ACCOUNT or HSA. A savings or other account meeting the requirements for favorable
tax treatment under 26 U.S.C. §223, as amended. (2) HIGH DEDUCTIBLE HEALTH PLAN or HDHP.
That term as defined in 26 U.S.C. §223(c)(2), as amended, and any regulations promulgated
thereunder. (3) PARTICIPANT. An eligible active or retired state employee and his or her dependents
as determined by the State Employees' Insurance Board. (b) The State Employees' Insurance
