Section 36-27-72 Disqualification of credit. Anything in this division to the contrary notwithstanding,
a member of the Employees' Retirement System shall not receive credit for such service where
at the time of retirement he has credit or is entitled to any benefits whatsoever for the
same service under any other retirement or pension plan which is wholly or partly funded from
public funds; provided that nothing herein shall be construed to apply to participation in
the federal Social Security program. In the event of disqualification of such service credit,

July 30, 1979, any person assuming office for the first time as a justice of the Supreme Court,
judge of a court of appeals or a circuit judge, shall receive and be entitled to all retirement

Section 36-27-21.3 Cost-of-living increases; funding. (a) There is hereby provided, commencing
October 1, 1982, to any person retired prior to October 1, 1981, under the Teachers' Retirement

(a) Any county engineer participating in the Employees' Retirement System of Alabama under
the provisions of Section 36-27-9 whose county is now covering its employees in the Employees'

of interest on contributions as a prerequisite to the granting of credit for withdrawn, terminated,

Section 12-18-133 Purchase of additional credit. Any justice of the Supreme Court, judge of
the Court of Civil Appeals, judge of the Court of Criminal Appeals, circuit judge, or district
judge who has 24 years of creditable service in the Judicial Retirement Fund of Alabama may
elect to purchase credit in the Judicial Retirement Fund of Alabama for up to one additional
