Section 16-25-11.20 Purchase of credit for time on medical leave or full-time employment with Legislature, etc. (a) Any active and contributing member of the Teachers' Retirement System may claim and purchase service credit in the system for any prior service described and limited as follows: (1) Not more than one year for time spent on medical leave approved by the state or local employer. (2) Not more than 10 years for full-time employment with the Alabama Legislature. (3) Not more than four years for full-time employment with a subsidiary affiliate organization of an employer which has continually participated in the system since its inception. (b) The purchase of any prior service credit under subsection (a) may occur at any time prior to the member's date of retirement. (a) Any active and contributing member of the Oxford Emergency Medical Services, Inc., that participates in the Employees' Retirement System under Section 36-27-6, may purchase prior non-qualified service for employment rendered to Oxford Emergency Medical Services before July 14, 2009, as permitted by the IRC Section 415(n)(3)(B). (a) No physician-patient relationship is created between an employee or job applicant and an employer, medical review officer, or any person performing or evaluating a drug test solely by the establishment, implementation, or administration of a drug-testing program.
