Section 33-12-5 Powers, duties and functions. The powers, duties and functions of the agency
shall be as follows: (1) GENERALLY. The agency a. Shall have perpetual succession in its corporate
name. b. May sue and be sued in its corporate name. c. May adopt, use and alter a corporate
seal, which shall be judicially noticed. d. May enter into such contracts and cooperative
agreements with the federal, state and local governments, with agencies of such governments,
with private individuals, corporations, associations, trusts and other organizations as the

Section 40-14A-22 Levy and amount of tax. (a) Levy of tax. There is hereby levied an annual
privilege tax on every corporation, limited liability entity, and disregarded entity doing
business in Alabama, or organized, incorporated, qualified, or registered under the laws of
Alabama. The tax shall accrue as of January 1 of every taxable year, or in the case of a taxpayer

Section 24-8-7 Exemptions. (a) Except for subdivision (3) of Section 24-8-4, Sections 24-8-4
and 24-8-6 do not apply to rooms or units in dwellings containing living quarters occupied
or intended to be occupied by no more than four families living independently of each other,
