Section 40-23-4 Exemptions. (a) There are exempted from the provisions of this division and
from the computation of the amount of the tax levied, assessed, or payable under this division
the following: (1) The gross proceeds of the sales of lubricating oil and gasoline as defined
in Sections 40-17-30 and 40-17-170 and the gross proceeds from those sales of lubricating
oil destined for out-of-state use which are transacted in a manner whereby an out-of-state
purchaser takes delivery of such oil at a distributor's plant within this state and transports
it out-of-state, which are otherwise taxed. (2) The gross proceeds of the sale, or sales,
of fertilizer when used for agricultural purposes. The word "fertilizer" shall not
be construed to include cottonseed meal, when not in combination with other materials. (3)
The gross proceeds of the sale, or sales, of seeds for planting purposes and baby chicks and

Section 35-4-341 Meeting of trustees; execution of deed. (a) Before such deed may be executed,
a majority of the board of trustees of the literary society, social society, Young Men's Christian
Association, or Young Women's Christian Association shall first recommend the execution of
said deed and submit the proposition to a called meeting of the adult members of such literary
society, social society, Young Men's Christian Association, or Young Women's Christian Association,
such meeting to be assembled after 10 days' notice of the time, place and object of such meeting,

Section 22-21-100 Definitions. For the purposes of this division, the following terms shall
have the meanings respectively ascribed to them by this section: (1) HOSPITAL CORPORATION.
A hospital association heretofore or hereafter organized under and pursuant to the provisions

Section 10A-3-1.03 Applicability. (a) The provisions of this chapter relating to domestic nonprofit
corporations shall apply to: (1) All nonprofit corporations organized hereunder; and (2) All
nonprofit corporations heretofore organized under any act hereby or heretofore repealed, for
a purpose or purposes for which a nonprofit corporation might be organized under this chapter.
(b) The provisions of this chapter relating to foreign nonprofit corporations shall apply
to all foreign nonprofit corporations conducting affairs in Alabama for a purpose or purposes

Section 42-3-3 Reservation of rights, etc., by state. The jurisdiction heretofore ceded to
the United States over any lands acquired by it within the State of Alabama, with the consent
