Section 24-1-22 Definitions. The following terms, wherever used or referred to in this article, shall have the following respective meanings, unless a different meaning clearly appears from the context: (1) AUTHORITY or HOUSING AUTHORITY. A public body organized as a body corporate and politic in accordance with the provisions of this article for the purposes, with the powers and subject to the restrictions set forth. (2) CITY. Any city or incorporated town in the State of Alabama. (3) COUNCIL. The legislative body, council, board of commissioners or other body charged with governing the city. (4) CITY CLERK and MAYOR. The Commissioner of Conservation and Natural Resources may sell or cause to be sold timber from school lands, swamp and overflowed lands, and other lands under the jurisdiction of the State Lands Division, or minerals from school lands or swamp and overflowed lands, when in his or her opinion the timber or minerals is of merchantable quality and quantity.
