Section 22-3-4 County health officers - Powers. The county health officer, elected as provided in Section 22-3-2, shall devote all of his time to official work and shall, under no circumstances, engage in private practice. He shall, under the direction of the State Health Officer and the county board of health, have sole direction of all sanitary and public health work within the county, including incorporated municipalities, and shall employ for his assistants, subject to the provisions of the appropriate merit system, such number of physicians, nurses, clerks, inspectors and other employees as are found necessary to accomplish the work. The county health officer may remove from office any assistant or employee, subject to the rules of the appropriate merit system. Section 22-37A-2 Definitions. As used in this chapter, the following terms have the following meanings: (1) ACCREDITED INDIVIDUAL. Section 45-44-244.31 Authorization to levy tax; payment; amount. In addition to any and all other taxes or fees heretofore or hereafter levied in Macon County, the Macon County Commission may levy a payroll or privilege fee upon any person who performs a trade, occupation, or profession in those areas of the county not subject to an occupation tax on the effective date of the act adding this language. If any area is not subject to an occupational tax on the effective date of the act adding this language and the area is annexed into a municipality and becomes subject to a municipal occupational tax, any payroll or privilege fee levied pursuant to this section shall continue to apply in the annexed area notwithstanding any other provision of law. Section 9-16-83 Permits - Contents of application; reclamation plan; copy of application filed for public inspection; insurance; blasting plan. (a) Each application for a surface coal mining reclamation permit under this article shall be accompanied by a fee as determined by the regulatory authority, but not to exceed the anticipated cost of reviewing, administering, and enforcing the permit. In no event shall the permit fee be less than one thousand dollars ($1,000). The regulatory authority shall develop procedures to enable the cost of the fee to be paid over the life of the mine. The life of the mine means the term of the permit and the time required to successfully complete all surface coal mining and reclamation activities and obtain a full release of the performance bond for each bonded area.
