Section 34-29-75 Expiration and renewal of licenses; suspension for nonrenewal. All licenses shall expire annually on December 31 of each year but may be renewed by application to the board showing fulfillment of continuing education requirements and payment of a renewal fee established and published by the board. The continuation of practice after the expiration of a license shall be in violation of this article and be cause for suspension of the license. The executive director shall send a reminder of expiration 30 days prior to expiration by first class mail and issue a new display license to all persons registering under this article. Failure to renew a license on or before January 1 of each year shall prompt the executive director to send a final notice of expiration by certified mail, return receipt requested, to the last address of the veterinarian known to the board and a late penalty shall be assessed and the license shall be suspended for non-renewal. Section 34-43-13 License renewal; reinstatement. (a) Each license shall be renewed biennially, on or before the anniversary date, by forwarding to the board a renewal application accompanied by the renewal fee. Each applicant for renewal for licensure shall be subject to a criminal history check. Any license not renewed biennially on or before the anniversary date shall expire. Section 34-24-336 Continuing medical education. (a) It shall be the duty of the State Board of Medical Examiners to promote continuing medical education of all physicians and osteopaths licensed by the commission and is empowered to spend a portion of its funds in any manner it deems desirable for carrying out this purpose. The board is specifically empowered to provide funds to any nonprofit corporation for the purpose of conducting continuing medical education programs without being bound by the provisions of any law requiring competitive bidding.
