Section 34-9-61 Review and renewal of permit; reevaluation of credentials and facility.
(a) Any dentist holding a permit of authorization issued by the Board of Dental Examiners
shall be subject to review and such permit must be renewed annually. (b) The board shall,
upon payment of a renewal fee, renew the general anesthesia permit annually unless the holder
is informed in writing that a reevaluation of his or her credentials and facility is to be
required. In determining whether such reevaluation is necessary, the board shall consider
such factors as it deems pertinent including, but not limited to, patient complaints and reports
of adverse occurrences. Such reevaluation shall be carried out in the manner described in

and facility. The board shall renew the parenteral sedation permit annually, upon payment
of a renewal fee, unless the holder is informed in writing that a reevaluation of his or her

Section 34-9-10 Application; licensure by credentials; special purpose license. (a)
Every person who desires to practice dentistry within the State of Alabama shall file an application
prescribed by the board. Notwithstanding the method of obtaining licensure or any particular
requirement set forth herein, every person as a prerequisite to licensure shall be at least
19 years of age, of good moral character, a citizen of the United States or, if not a citizen
of the United States, a person who is legally present in the United States with appropriate
documentation from the federal government, and a graduate of a dental school or college accredited
by the American Dental Association Commission on Dental Accreditation and approved by the
board and shall satisfy any other requirement set forth in any rule adopted by the board.

Section 34-9-8 Dental facility teaching permits; dental facility special teaching permits.
(a) The board shall annually issue dental faculty teaching permits to persons who are bona
fide members of the faculty of a dental college, if they hold a dental degree but are not
licensed and registered to practice dentistry or dental hygiene in the state. The dean of
any dental college located in the state shall annually certify to the board the bona fide
members of the clinical faculty of the college who are not licensed and registered to practice
dentistry or dental hygiene in the state. The board shall issue teaching permits to applicants
upon the certification by the dean. The teaching permits shall be invalid if the holder ceases
to be a member of the clinical faculty of the dental college. The dean of any dental college

Section 34-9-6.1 Mobile dental facilities or portable dental operations. (a) For purposes
of this section, the following words have the following meanings: (1) DENTAL HOME.
The dental home is the ongoing relationship between the dentist and the patient, inclusive
of all aspects of oral health care, delivered in a comprehensive, continuously accessible,
coordinated, and family-centered way. (2) MOBILE DENTAL FACILITY. Any self-contained facility
in which dentistry or dental hygiene is practiced which may be moved, towed, or transported
from one location to another. (3) OPERATOR. A person licensed to practice dentistry in this
state or an entity which is approved as tax exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal

(a) Any person who manufactures, sells, transfers, receives, or possesses a listed precursor
chemical violates this article if the person: (1) Knowingly fails to comply with the reporting
requirements of this article; (2) Knowingly makes a false statement in a report or record
required by this article or the rules adopted thereunder; (3) Is required by this article
