Section 9-17-104 Appointment, compensation and bond of administrator; administrator and inspectors constituted peace officers; Liquefied Petroleum Gas Board Fund; excess balances to be transferred to fund. (a) The board shall appoint, prescribe the duties of, and fix the compensation of an administrator. The board may dismiss an administrator at its discretion. The board shall adopt a seal, which shall be in the care and custody of the administrator. The board, subject to the Merit System, may employ and prescribe the duties of assistants and inspectors necessary to carry out this article. The board, without regard to the Merit System Act, may engage and employ consultants and technical advisors considered necessary in carrying out its responsibilities. (b) The administrator and inspectors are constituted peace officers of the State of Alabama and are clothed with the powers of peace officers and deputy sheriffs, and may exercise such powers anywhere within the state. Section 34-14C-4 Licensure; inspections. (a) Except as otherwise provided in this chapter, a home medical equipment services provider shall be licensed annually by the board before the provider may engage in the provision of home medical equipment services. In Alabama, when a single business entity provides home medical equipment services from more than one location within the state, each such location shall be licensed. A provider of home medical equipment services that has a principal place of business outside this state shall maintain at least one physical location within this state, each of which shall be licensed.
