Section 12-17-184 Powers and duties generally. It is the duty of every district attorney
and assistant district attorney, within the circuit, county, or other territory for which
he or she is elected or appointed: (1) To attend on the grand juries, advise them in relation
to matters of law, and examine and swear witnesses before them. (2) To draw up all indictments
and to prosecute all indictable offenses. (3) To prosecute and defend any civil action in

Section 22-9A-12 New birth certificate upon adoption, legitimation, or paternity determination;
availability of original certificate; contact preference form. (a) The State Registrar shall
establish a new certificate of birth for a person born in this state upon receipt of any of
the following: (1) A report of adoption as provided in Section 22-9A-11 or a report
of adoption prepared and filed in accordance with the laws of another state, the District

Section 34-21-2 Board of Nursing generally. (a) There is created the Board of Nursing,
which shall be composed of 13 members to be appointed and have the duties and powers enumerated
in this section. The membership of the board shall be inclusive and reflect the racial,
gender, geographic, urban/rural, and economic diversity of the state. In order to insure continuity
of administration, the nine board members provided for by Section 3 of Act 427, Regular

Section 34-1-14 Hearings; judicial review. (a) Commencement of proceeding. The board
may initiate proceedings under this chapter either on its own motion or on the complaint of
any person. (b) Notice; service and contents. A written notice stating the nature of the charge

Section 34-21-25 Denial, suspension, or revocation of license; administrative fines;
voluntary disciplinary alternative program. (a) For disciplinary purposes, the board may adopt,
levy, and collect administrative fines not to exceed one thousand dollars ($1,000) per violation

Section 27-21A-2 Establishment of health maintenance organizations. (a) Notwithstanding
any law of this state to the contrary, any person may apply to the commissioner for and obtain
a certificate of authority to establish and operate a health maintenance organization in compliance

Interstate Compact. The Emergency Medical Services Personnel Licensure Interstate Compact
is hereby enacted into law and entered into with all other jurisdictions legally joining therein
in form substantially as follows: SECTION 1. PURPOSE In order to protect the public
through verification of competency and ensure accountability for patient care related activities
all states license emergency medical services (EMS) personnel, such as emergency medical technicians
(EMTs), advanced EMTs and paramedics. This Compact is intended to facilitate the day to day
movement of EMS personnel across state boundaries in the performance of their EMS duties as
assigned by an appropriate authority and authorize state EMS offices to afford immediate legal
