Section 34-9-60.1 Administration of infiltration anesthesia by dental hygienists; permit requirements. (a) The board may permit licensed dental hygienists to administer infiltration anesthesia under the direct supervision of a licensed dentist. The board may promulgate rules further limiting the administration of infiltration anesthesia by dental hygienists. In order to administer infiltration anesthesia, a dental hygienist shall possess a dental hygiene infiltration anesthesia permit issued by the board.
