Section 34-40-7 Time restrictions on certification. (a) Any person actively engaged as an athletic trainer on May 13, 1993, shall be issued a license certificate if the athletic trainer submits proof of three years of experience as an athletic trainer within the preceding five-year period, receives approval by the board, and pays the license certificate fee as determined by the board. For the purpose of this section, a person is actively engaged as an athletic trainer if the person is employed on a salaried basis for the duration of the institution's school year, or the length of the athletic organization's season, and was hired and performs the duties of an athletic trainer as the major responsibility of employment.
