Section 8-19-4 Enforcement (a) The office of the Attorney General and the district attorneys shall have the following functions, powers, and duties: (1) Conduct preliminary investigations to determine the merit of complaints, provided, however, the office of the Attorney General or the district attorneys need not handle any complaint which lacks merit, has been made in bad faith, or may be readily resolved between the parties. (2) Receive information and documentary material from complainants and take whatever action is appropriate in connection therewith as authorized by this chapter. The office of the Attorney General and the district attorneys may otherwise receive and investigate complaints with respect to acts or practices declared to be unlawful by this chapter, and inform the complainants with respect thereto. Section 22-21-276 Injunctive relief; issuance of license for inpatient beds or facilities in violation of article prohibited; facilities in violation of article not to receive reimbursement for services. Section 39-2-12 Partial and final payments of contractors by awarding authorities. (a) As used in this section the following words shall have the meanings ascribed to them as follows: (1) CONTRACTOR. Any natural person, partnership, company, firm, corporation, association, limited liability company, cooperative, or other legal entity licensed by the Alabama State Licensing Board for General Contractors. (a) Any person or entity, including the board or its staff, may file a complaint alleging a violation of this chapter against any individual licensee, certified intern, or firm holding a certificate of authorization or against an unlicensed individual or firm.
