Section 8-39-5 Applicability of chapter. This chapter does not apply to any of the following:
(1) Disposable assistive devices with a useful life of one year or less. (2) Batteries or
nonfunctional accessories. (3) Assistive devices dispensed, sold, injected, or implanted by
a licensed physician, licensed physician assistant, or any individual working with or for
the practice of a licensed physician, employer, or other business entity that is primarily
engaged in the practice of medicine, whether or not the individual is working in a collaborative
practice agreement as an agent, employee, or independent contractor. The exemption provided
by this subdivision shall not apply to an assistive device simply because it was prescribed

Section 12-15-108 Liability of counties for expenses of maintenance and care of children under
the jurisdiction of the juvenile court pursuant to this chapter; reimbursement. Except as
otherwise provided in this chapter, all expenses necessary or appropriate to the carrying
out of the purposes and intent of this chapter and all expenses of maintenance and care of

Section 15-23-46 Victim counselors not to prescribe drugs, practice medicine, or practice other
professions without license. Nothing in this article shall be construed to permit a victim
counselor to administer or prescribe drugs in any form, or in any manner to engage in the
practice of medicine as defined by the laws of this state or to engage in any act or to perform
any service which act or service requires a license as described in Chapters 8A, 21, 24, 26,

Section 22-10B-3 Duties. (a) The Alabama Sickle Cell Oversight and Regulatory Commission shall
be designated as the agency to insure the delivery of sickle cell services pursuant to Section
22-10B-5 to affected persons in all counties in Alabama and assist in establishing geographical
service delivery boundaries. The commission shall promulgate guidelines for creating uniformity
in the delivery of services and the management of statewide programs. (b) The commission shall
also promulgate rules pursuant to the Alabama Administrative Procedure Act for handling complaints

Section 26-23H-3 Definitions. As used in this chapter, the following terms shall have the following
meanings: (1) ABORTION. The use or prescription of any instrument, medicine, drug, or any
