Section 34-23-51 Application for license; qualifications of applicants; examination of applicants; license by reciprocity. Every person who desires to practice pharmacy within this state shall file with the secretary of the board his or her written application for licensure upon forms furnished by the board not less than 10 days prior to his or her examination. The application shall be accompanied by an examination and registration fee for residents and nonresidents of this state, the fees to be set by the board. The application shall be accompanied by two recent photographs of the applicant, no larger than 2 1/2 x 3 1/4 inches and certified on the back of each photograph by a notary public. Section 34-24-361 Investigations; reporting offenses; proceedings and actions; privileged information. (a)(1) The State Board of Medical Examiners on its own motion may investigate any evidence which appears to show that a physician or osteopath holding a certificate of qualification to practice medicine or osteopathy in the State of Alabama is or may be guilty of any of the acts, offenses, or conditions set out in Section 34-24-360. As part of its investigation, the board may require a criminal history background check of the physician or osteopath. In such event, the physician or osteopath shall submit a complete set of fingerprints to the State Board of Medical Examiners. Section 34-27-36 Disciplinary action - Generally. (a) The commission or its staff may on its own, or on the verified complaint in writing of any person, investigate the actions and records of a licensee. The commission may issue subpoenas and compel the testimony of witnesses and the production of records and documents during an investigation. If probable cause is found, a formal complaint shall be filed and the commission shall hold a hearing on the formal complaint. (a) An interested person may petition the court to order protective placement or other protective services for an adult in need of protective services. No protective placement or other protective services may be ordered unless there is a determination by the court that the person is unable to provide for his or her own protection from abuse, neglect, exploitation, sexual abuse, or emotional abuse.
