Section 11-5-36 Exceptions. (a) The following provisions of this article shall not apply to a doctor of medicine or a doctor of osteopathy licensed to practice medicine in this state who serves as a coroner or deputy coroner: (1) Subsections (d), (e), and (i) of Section 11-5-31. (2) Subdivision (7) of subsection (a) and subsection (b) of Section 11-5-33. (b) Any rule promulgated by the commission pursuant to its authority under any of the sections listed in subdivisions (1) or (2) of subsection (a) shall not apply to a doctor of medicine or a doctor of osteopathy licensed to practice medicine in this state. Section 40-9-27 Prescriptions for vitamins and supplements exempt from sales taxes. (a) Any vitamins, minerals and dietary supplements, which are used, sold, furnished, dispensed and prescribed by any physician licensed to practice medicine, chiropractor, orthodontist, and podiatrist in the performance of his professional services shall be exempt from any city, county and state sales tax.
