Section 22-19-121 Definitions. As used in this article, the following terms shall have the following meanings, respectively, unless the context clearly indicates otherwise: (1) CHAIRMAN. The Chairman of the Department of Surgery, School of Medicine, at the University of Alabama at Birmingham. (2) PERSON. Any person, firm, partnership, association, joint venture, or corporation, and any combination of persons herein specified, but "person" shall not include the United States or any agency or instrumentality thereof, except in the case of voluntary submission to the policies and procedures and standards for quality assurance established by this article and by the "chairman". Section 34-24-217 Grounds for refusal, suspension, or revocation of license. Section 32-5C-4 Medical exemptions. (a) The Alabama State Law Enforcement Agency (ALEA), upon application from a person required for medical reasons to be shielded from the direct rays of the sun, may issue an exemption from this chapter for any motor vehicle owned by the person or in which the person is a habitual passenger. The application shall be supported by written statement of that fact from a physician licensed to practice medicine in this state. Except as otherwise provided in subsection (b), the exemption may be issued with the conditions and limitations prescribed by ALEA.
