Section 34-9-63 Permit to use parenteral sedation. The issuance of a permit for general anesthesia shall include the privilege of administering parenteral sedation in accordance with this section. The issuance of a permit for parenteral sedation shall include the privilege of administering intravenous sedation. All current intravenous sedation permit holders are entitled to a parenteral sedation permit subject to the renewal and regulatory provisions afforded to the Board of Dental Examiners by this chapter. The term parenteral sedation shall not include the use or regulation of nitrous oxide. (1) No dentist shall use parenteral sedation on an outpatient basis for dental patients unless the dentist possesses a permit of authorization issued by the board. Every person licensed to practice medicine or osteopathy in the State of Alabama shall, on or before December 31 of each succeeding year, apply to the commission for renewal of a certificate of registration which shall be effective during the next calendar year. Section 34-5A-7 Expiration and renewal of license. (a) A license shall be granted for a period of two years and shall expire on December 31 in the second year. (a) The board, by rule, shall establish a procedure for renewing certificates of licensure on an annual or a biennial basis.
