Section 34-27-2 Definitions; exemptions from chapter. (a) For purposes of Articles 1 and 2 of this chapter, the following terms shall have the respective meanings ascribed by this section: (1) ASSOCIATE BROKER. Any broker other than a qualifying broker. (2) BROKER. Any person licensed as a real estate broker under Articles 1 and 2 of this chapter. (3) COMMISSION. The Alabama Real Estate Commission, except where the context requires that it means the fee paid to a broker or salesperson. (4) COMMISSIONER. A member of the commission. (5) COMPANY. (a) A report of fetal death shall be filed with the Office of Vital Statistics, or as otherwise directed by the State Registrar, within five days after the occurrence is known if the fetus has advanced to, or beyond, the twentieth week of uterogestation. Section 34-24-361 Investigations; reporting offenses; proceedings and actions; privileged information. (a)(1) The State Board of Medical Examiners on its own motion may investigate any evidence which appears to show that a physician or osteopath holding a certificate of qualification to practice medicine or osteopathy in the State of Alabama is or may be guilty of any of the acts, offenses, or conditions set out in Section 34-24-360. As part of its investigation, the board may require a criminal history background check of the physician or osteopath. In such event, the physician or osteopath shall submit a complete set of fingerprints to the State Board of Medical Examiners. Section 36-18-32 DNA Database Fund. (a) There is hereby established a special fund to be known as the Alabama DNA Database Fund. (b) The fund shall be placed under the management or administration of the Director of the Alabama Department of Forensic Sciences for the exclusive purposes of implementing the provisions of this article.
