Section 34-1-6 Registration of firms of certified public accountants. (a) A firm engaged in this state in the practice of public accounting may register with the board as a firm of certified public accountants provided it meets all of the following requirements: (1) At least 51 percent of the ownership of the firm, in terms of financial interests and voting rights of all partners, officers, shareholders, members, or managers, belongs to holders of a certificate who are licensed in some state, and such partners, officers, shareholders, members, or managers, whose principal place of business is in this state, and who perform professional services in this state hold a valid certificate issued under Section 34-1-4. Section 34-12-2 Registration required; exceptions. (a) In order to benefit and protect the public, no person in either public or private capacity shall practice or offer to practice forestry, unless he or she has submitted evidence that he or she is qualified so to practice and is registered by the board as hereinafter provided or unless he or she is specifically exempted from registration under this chapter. The board shall keep a record of its proceedings and a register of all applications for registration, which register shall show the name, age and residence of each applicant, the date of the application, the place of business of such applicant, his or her educational and other qualifications, whether or not an examination was required, whether or not the application was rejected, whether or not a license of registration was granted, the date of the action by the board, and such other information as may be deemed necessary by the board. Section 34-16-13 Violations; penalties. After January 1, 1999, any person who undertakes or attempts to undertake the practice of interpreting or transliterating for remuneration among consumers without first having procured a valid license or permit, or who knowingly presents or files false information with the board for the purpose of obtaining a license or permit, or who violates this chapter shall be guilty of a Class C misdemeanor. A person who is not licensed or permitted may not bring or maintain an action to enforce any contract for interpreting or transliterating services which he or she entered into in violation of this chapter. Section 34-26-47 Notice and hearing requirements. (a) The board may not recommend suspension or revocation of licensure or refuse to issue or to renew any license for any cause listed in Section 34-26-46 unless the person accused has been given at least 30 days' notice in writing of the charge against him or her and a public hearing by the board. Section 34-29-75 Expiration and renewal of licenses; suspension for nonrenewal. All licenses shall expire annually on December 31 of each year but may be renewed by application to the board showing fulfillment of continuing education requirements and payment of a renewal fee established and published by the board. The continuation of practice after the expiration of a license shall be in violation of this article and be cause for suspension of the license. The executive director shall send a reminder of expiration 30 days prior to expiration by first class mail and issue a new display license to all persons registering under this article.
