Section 27-45-2 Definitions. As used in this article, the following terms shall have the respective meanings herein set forth, unless the context shall otherwise require: (1) ALABAMA INSURANCE CODE. Title 27 of the Code of Alabama 1975. (2) INSURER. Such term shall have the meaning ascribed in Section 27-1-2. (3) PERSON. Such term shall have the meaning ascribed in Section 27-1-2. In order to strengthen access to health care, and in recognition of the advances in the delivery of health care, the member states of the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact have allied in common purpose to develop a comprehensive process that complements the existing licensing and regulatory authority of state medical boards, provides a streamlined process that allows physicians to become licensed in multiple states, thereby enhancing the portability of a medical license and promoting the safety of patients.
