Section 27-21A-4 Powers of health maintenance organizations. (a) The powers of a health
maintenance organization include, but are not limited to the following: (1) The purchase,
lease, construction, renovation, operation, or maintenance of hospitals, medical facilities,
or both, and their ancillary equipment; (2) The making of loans other than in the ordinary
course of business, to providers under contract with it in furtherance of its program or the
making of loans to a corporation or corporations in which it owns a majority interest for
the purpose of acquiring or constructing medical facilities and hospitals or in furtherance
of a program providing health care services to enrollees. (3) The furnishing of health care
services through providers which are under contract with or employed by the health maintenance

Section 27-7-14.1 Licenses - Lines of authority; renewal. (a) Unless denied licensure
pursuant to Section 27-7-19, persons who have met the requirements of Sections 27-7-4.3
and 27-7-5 shall be issued an insurance producer license. An insurance producer may receive

As used in this section, the following terms shall have the following meanings: (1)
RENTAL AGREEMENT. Any written agreement setting forth the terms and conditions governing the
use of a vehicle provided by the rental company for rental or lease. (2) RENTAL COMPANY. Any
person or entity in the business of providing rental vehicles to the public under a rental

Section 27-7-5.3 Licenses - Limited license for self-service storage facility. (a) As
used in this section, the following terms shall have the following meanings: (1) LIMITED
LICENSEE. A person or entity authorized to sell certain coverages for personal property maintained

Section 36-29-4 Establishment and provisions of health insurance plan; rules and regulations.
The board is hereby empowered and authorized to establish a fully insured or self-insured
health insurance plan for employees and retirees of the State of Alabama and to adopt and
promulgate rules and regulations for the administration of such plan, subject to such limitations
as may be contained in this chapter. Such plan may provide for group hospitalization, surgical,
and medical insurance against the financial costs of hospitalization, surgical, and medical

Section 11-91A-7 Jurisdiction of board; funding; powers of board. The board shall have
full, complete, and exclusive jurisdiction over the program and shall allocate funds from
its treasury for the fulfillment and accomplishment of its duties and responsibilities in
a manner as may be necessary and appropriate to carry out the purposes of this chapter. The
board shall have the general powers and authority granted under the laws of this state for

articles of association, charter, or other organizational document, may apply to the commissioner

(a) The State Board of Medical Examiners may, at its discretion and subject to the rules and
regulations promulgated by the board, issue a certificate of qualification in behalf of physicians
